‘Celt’ comes inspired by ancient Cycladic art. I love the simplicity and the essence of form that these Cycladic artists created, they are not caught up in the realism of vision, but to the essence of being. I feel these ancient works capture the archetypal messages of life that we must not forget. ‘Celt’ is also inspired by the sword and perhaps why I named the sculpture, ‘Celt’, as the Celts were great warriors too. The pommel, (the head), the grip, (the neck) and the guard, (the shoulders), are evident in the bust, while the body descends like the blade into the ground.

Torso is the essence of ‘woman’. She is a cross and I feel she relates to all the archetypal messages of the cross, its duality of opposing forms meeting, the spirit passing through the material earth, in harness with who ‘she’ is.
