Inspired by one of our trips to the Cill Rialaig Art residency on the edge of the wild and unpredictable Atlantic Ocean,
where traders and monks once came by sea in ancient vessels to the old Bailinskelligs port.

Inspired from our journeys to the cliffs and coastlines of oceans; the Atlantic on the West coast of Ireland, the Great Southern Ocean on the edge of Australia, the North sea off Sweden and the Atlantic on the West coast of France. Walking or sailing along the coast I think we all see reclining figures in the landscapes. Headlands jutting out like a Lioness or a reclining woman and this case ‘Two Reclining Figures’, faces painted like navigational markers.
