Vallon Sourn
The protected Vallon Sourn, where the swift waters of the Argens have cut a picturesque canyon from the soft rock, is a haven for walking, cycling, canoeing, wild swimming and even rock climbing (although be warned – these rock faces are for serious climbers only).
–
Ste Baum
About 50 minutes from Correns, it is one of our favourite walks. It is believed Mary Magdalene lived in a large cave in these cliffs and so became a christian pilgrimage. In about the year 1000, the forest below the cave was declared a sacred forest and so was protected. Walking up through the forest and past Mary’s cave to the summit is is a meditative experience. At the top you can look back towards Correns or to the Mediterranean coast.

Gorges du Verdun
Verdon Gorge is a river canyon in southeastern France. Carved by the Verdon River, it has white-water rapids and cliffs. Paths include the Blanc-Martel trail, ending at Point Sublime lookout. Within Verdon Natural Regional Park, the village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie has 12th-century Notre Dame de Beauvoir Chapel and ceramics at the Musée de la Faïence. South, the Musée des Tourneurs sur Bois shows local woodwork.

Abbaye du Thoronet
The “jewel” of Cistercian abbeys. Built between 1160 and 1230, Le Thoronet Abbey, together with Silvacane and Sénanque, is one of three Cistercian abbeys in Provence. In danger of falling into disrepair after the French Revolution, restoration work began on this masterpiece in 1841.
