I love the landscape of Provence – it is probably reminiscent of the land we love in Australia, a bit like the Flinders Ranges, a dry rocky and colourful earth. I feel very connected to this landscape, I feel our ancestors living here over the millennia, living in the natural caves, gathering and hunting in the protected valleys. I have been drawing a series in this landscape on the ancestor asleep in the earth, the ancestor form like a stela, a marker of time and memory.
