Uluru, une sculpture d’un bateau dans le ciel nocturne, pêchant avec un long filet pour capturer les histoires du Dreaming sur Uluru.
Elle a été inspirée par la série Fishing de Cartwright, tirée de ses expériences en Papouasie-Nouvelle-Guinée, assis sur le bord du récif dans un bateau, les profonds abysses de la mer d’un côté et les hauts-fonds du récif de l’autre, en équilibre entre ces deux mondes. Uluru représente également l’équilibre délicat entre deux mondes, celui des premiers habitants de l’Australie et celui des “autres” qui se sont emparés de l’Australie il y a 200 ans. Le but est de retrouver le rêve autour du rocher sacré d’Uluru en Australie centrale, l’enregistrement des histoires tribales qui appartiennent à cette terre. Le carré rouge sur le rocher représente l’empiètement de la civilisation occidentale, des hôtels et du tourisme sur ce site sacré.

Uluru, a sculpture of a boat in the night sky, fishing with a long net to capture the stories of the Dreaming over Uluru.
It came inspired by Cartwright’s Fishing series from his experiences in Papua New Guinea sitting on the edge of the reef in a boat, the deep abyss of the sea on one side and the shallows of the reef on the other, balancing between these two worlds. Uluru is also about the delicate balance between two worlds, the world of the original people of Australia and the world of the ‘others’ who took over Australia 200 years ago. The net is to recapture the Dreaming around the sacred rock of Uluru in Central Australia, the recording of the tribal stories that belong to this land. The Red square on the rock is to represent the encroachment of western civilisation, hotels and tourism, on this sacred site.
